Green Tourism Cardiff

Committing to Green Tourism is one of our key objectives at the Clayton Hotel Cardiff. Through these key objectives and points of action, we are working as a hotel to minimise the impact on the environment by introducing eco-friendly hotel initiatives.

“It’s so important we all play our part to reduce our carbon footprint to secure a greener future for everyone. I’m delighted to work alongside our enthusiastic Green Team at the Clayton Cardiff to help in making a change”

– Patrick Hogan, General Manager

Eco-Friendly Hotel Initiatives

  • We are a Green Tourism member and were proudly awarded the Gold Green Tourism Award for 2021.
  • In 2020 we made a conscious decision to remove all disposable small toiletry bottles from the bedrooms and replace them with large refillable eco-friendly body wash and shampoo.
  • We have made a concerted effort to reduce fossil fuels and reduce energy and water at all times, by monitoring all energy supplies and making adjustments by fitting energy-saving devices.
  • Our hotel organises litter picks to help the environmental impacts of being within a city centre.
  • The hotel operates a zero-landfill policy
  • We strive to order traceable and ethically sourced products

Cardiff is a Green City Too! Here’s How You Can Help

Cardiff has a number of amazing schemes for visitors to participate in, and urge visitors to participate where they can to help our environment. Here are some suggestions on how to enjoy time in Cardiff and keep it environmentally friendly.

  • Nextbike is our pay as you go cycling scheme all around the city that allows all walks of life to travel around Cardiff in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
  • Did you know Cardiff has one of the greenest spaces in Europe within a City Centre? With over 2000 trees and a space bigger than 75 football pitches, walking is a definite must while visiting Cardiff.
  • Cardiff Bay is one of Cardiff’s gems, but instead of driving how about taking a boat? The Princess Katharine, a water taxi, is licensed to carry up to 90 passengers. Princess Katharine offers the perfect opportunity for visitors to experience the history and sights of the City and Bay whilst travelling between the two.
